Mignon Petites
Penguin
Don’t we all know somebody that walks like a penguin? And if that person is anywhere near as kind and gentle-hearted as my friend is, then you have the human model for an Emperor Penguin Mignon.
The Walk of the Penguins documentary was released in 2005, and I think it was significant in bringing the plight and fortitude of the Emperor Penguin into human consciousness. A captivating, gut-wrenching, sad, but also beautiful of an introduction to the species.
Native to Antarctica, the Emperor Penguins are able to adapt to extreme weather conditions such as -58°F and gusty winds. It is amazing that they can even survive and produce offspring. And survive they do because chicks and adults huddle together to keep each other warm. Sometimes 5000 or more Emperors pack-park themselves in a cluster where the ones from the outside edges of the group keep rotating inward, so none of them needs to be exposed to the extreme temperature for long.
They exhibit a fundamental behavior, showing that they seem to have a pretty good idea of how to help the species to survive. It is not by fighting against each other in the cold but fighting collectively against the cold. Our Penguin Mignon has been designed to commemorate these brave creatures, the Emperors.
